THE BLOG

You wouldn't believe it. I found the horses.

I've been traveling a lot for work the past month and I had to go to the local hellhole towns across the state. I got to drive the Oregon Trail! While that's a drive that's longer than it should be, I did get to see every mountain range within 250 miles of a certain point (which is, like, a lot of them). As I was looking out towards Green Mountain, I saw it. A blob with a long neck. Then another. Then another. And suddenly, at least 150 wild horses.

Did I get a picture? Hell no. I was barreling down a two lane highway processing what I was looking at. Horses?! Horses. I definitely wouldn't post a picture even if I did get one! It's the same reason I didn't record my wedding. You just have to see it. You need to travel the state a million times over looking for them and then give up. They will show up when you least expect it. That's how everything is in Wyoming. It's so magical and unpredictable.

Anyway, here's a piece I've been working on in watercolors (more on that later). It's somewhere along the Oregon Trail, between Independence Rock and the Continental Divide, maybe Carbon County? This was on the way back on the same highway, and no horses.
